Ann Charters was born on November 10, 1936 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Ann Charters was a close friend of Jack Kerouac. She prepared essays/forewards to various of his works and was mainly responsible for the The Jack Kerouac Portable Library. She has written a biography of Kerouac.
