[edit] I contest this speedy deletion

About 30 seconds after I made this article (the history page confirms this), the speedy deletion tag was added. I would like to state that first of all: -Having thousands of pages pertaining to the anime scene means that anime is appropriate for Wikipedia -Every page about a movie or actor has a link to the IMDB.com website. Thus, there is a big article on imdb as well. -A good number of anime articles (over 100), in the same fashion as movie pages, already have a link to the animeNFO website. A search for animenfo confirms this. -The animenfo.com website, had the person who listed this as speedy deletion actually took the time to visit it, is a tremendous resource for anything pertaining to anime --In conclusion, with hundreds of anime articles linking to this website due to it's useful resources, with thousands of articles on anime itself, and with it's importance to the internet anime scene, is certainly not vanity, useless or innapropriate for wikipedia. -animeNfo, just by judging from google results, is notable, with half a million mentions. A look on alexa.com also confirms that it is one of the most popular anime websites. ---Beltz 16:28, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] furthermore...

Websites with similar purpose for videogames have a large prescence on this website and they aren't criticized as being spam, vanity or advertising. For example, ign.com, gamefaqs.com, gamespot.com, gamespy.

[edit] This article should be deleted

I agree with the CSD nomination on this page. As you should be aware, Wikipedia does not permit articles which are classed as Vanity Pages, Spam, Webspam, advertising and the like. This page falls into at least 2 of those, being spam and an advert. If you want to create pages, make sure that its a useful article and does not fall into the trap of being something that can be whipped off in a flash. Thor Malmjursson 16:34, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

I just rewrote the article to remove POV. It still needs some expansion, but I think this makes it more along the lines of what should be on Wikipedia. --日本穣 Nihonjoe 08:52, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Are these articles spam as well? imdb, gamespot, gamefaqs

I don't understand the difference between this website, and imdb.com that makes this useless to wikipedia and yet imdb worthy of an article. As I wrote above, AnimenNfo is already referenced in almost every anime article on this website. Much like gamespot.com or gamefaqs.com are for videogames. So what is the difference that makes this one useless? It is one of the most important websites for anime. Thank you so much for your condescending advice, and please explain to me why this isn't useful considering how often this website is linked to from wikipedia. Beltz 05:22, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Animenfo is popular enough that I think it makes some sense to have a short article on it. The current article doesn't look bad at all. In any case, I don't think it undisputably fits any of the speedy criteria, so arguing about that is pointless. If somebody wants it deleted, send it to AFD. But I suspect it will be at least a "no consensus" which defaults to keep. --Chan-Ho (Talk) 17:42, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Renaming article

After the AfD process is finished with the result of keep, the article should be renamed to the proper capitalization AnimeNfo.com. --TheFarix (Talk) 00:16, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

You are right. The other articles such as animenfo and animenfo.com should just be redirects. Beltz 13:53, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
