[edit] Uploading a properly licensed image

Hi. All images uploaded to any of the Wikipedias require that they be in the public domain, licensable under GFDL or compatible licenses and in any case, not be copyright violations. In most cases, one cannot simply copy a copyrighted image from any web site, upload it to Wikipedia and use it in an article. A number of Wikipedia processes will eventually find the image and in most cases, it will be deleted after being reviewed. You may be able to claim fair use but in order to do so, you must know where the image came from and justify your fair use claim (many fail to do this however which means they have not made a proper fair use claim). Note that any images which are non-commercial use only are now generally deleted on sight by an admin. If you cannot find a public domain image, the better alternative is to upload one of your own photos and release it under GFDL or make it public domain. The image that was previously on the Stephen Dorff article was deleted but it's copyright status could not be properly resolved (fair use claim was not substantiated if I recall correctly). Also see Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. RedWolf 07:56, August 4, 2005 (UTC)

I've just noticed you uploaded Image:Stephen DorffGQ.jpg. This will probably soon get tagged as a copyright violation and get deleted. The magazine owns the image copyright and would be very unlikely to grant permission to use it here. You might be able to claim fair use but if it's the same quality as the original image, your claim will likely get denied. Fair use images generally have to be lower quality than the original. Fair use claims can be very tricky and it's been too widely used on Wikipedia in non-conforming ways. Fair use images are receiving higher scrutiny these days. RedWolf 08:02, August 4, 2005 (UTC)

A Bastard/coward put this crap on my page:

Well done for editing out the bit on Steve Dorff's page about him and Michael Stipe

It would obviously be incredibly detrimental if anyone were to think that this actor were in any way bisexual. Well done, you! Razstar 04:59, 29 April 2006 (UTC) Razstar is an abuser on this site and a jerk.
