[edit] German descent

I don't think she has German ancestry. The citation for her ancestry has an explicit quote that says "half Greek half Native". There's an article out there that said her father is part Native and her mother German - but they obviously made a mistake between "German" and "Greek" - that's how I think the whole German ancestry thing got started. It's this article here [1] "Her high sculpted cheekbones originate with her father's part Cherokee ancestry and her mom's German genes." - I think it's clear that her mother is just Greek - and they made a mistake between the two. From then on, someone assume her father was German, and it spread on and on. But in the direct quote I cited, she says "Being half Greek and half American Indian" [2]. Her father is of German ancestry. The last name Harmon is of German origin.[3] Mallaccaos, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Well "Harmon" is both English and German.
The name is actually German origins, Harmon is the English cognate of the name. The origins of the name come from, according to Tacitus, the first Latin historian to record the name being born by the Germanic tribe, the Cherusci, from northwestern Germany, who continued to bare the name through the centuries. But do you have a good source that her father is part German? (and I don't mean the IMDB or the various trivia sites - something like an in-depth article). I think the German thing started because the above writer made a mistake and said her mother was German. JackO'Lantern 19:49, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I've read it in several magazines interviews she has given which she states her father being of German descent, including the Texas Monthly September 2000 and InStyle Magazine July 2005 magazines. Just because you don't find it on line does not mean its not so. That other article which you mention, was told German and Native American and they falsely assumed her dad native american and mom German, instead of that being both her dad's heritage. Her father is of German and Native American descent. Mallaccaos, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Texas Monthly 2000 does not in fact say her father is German. It just says her mother is Greek. See the article here - [4]. It's also used as a source in the Wiki entry.
Thats all great but there are two pages to the Texas Monlty 2000 issue. ;) ~ Mallaccaos, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
I believe that the article that says her mother is German (which has to be a mistake) started this whole German thing, but any first hand source I check says Native American - including a quote by Harmon herself. We need a good source for the part German if we're going to include it. JackO'Lantern 20:44, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Yup, her mother being of German descent is a mistake but her dad is not. He was for the longest time the highest paid male model in the Southwest. He and his wife Carolyn have just sold their house of over two decades and are moving near New Summerfield. I'll try to see if I still have the articles from some of the interviews she has given and scan them on line. Maybe those could be used as sources instead? ~ :) Mallaccaos, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
What do those articles say exactly? Do they say that her father is of German descent, or of German and Native American descent? Do they say "how much" he is of either? I mean, if you put down the quote and page number, that's good enough. JackO'Lantern 21:20, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Cool. Sounds good.  :) Mallaccaos, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Just wanted to chime in that it seems to me to be unlikely that Larry Paul Harmon was 100% Native American, as suggested by the "half Greek, half Native" quip. --SVTCobra 22:38, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Is Angie Mark's sister

Does anybody know if Angie Harmon is Mark Harmon's sister?

Definitely not :) Mad Jack 19:19, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
He's definitely too old, and there would be a mention to this if it were true. Michael 19:36, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Plus if Mark Harmon was Greek like Angie he would have been captured and listed on Greek-Americans Mad Jack 23:28, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
