Angela is a female given name. It is derived from the Greek word ángelos (αγγελος), meaning "messenger", or "nice person". In the United States, the name "Angela" peaked in popularity during the mid-1970s. It was the fifth most popular name for girls born between 1974 and 1976 [1].
