I've not much to tell about myself - mid-50s, live in the midlands of England, retired, spend far too much time online, should get out more.

Wikipedia made only a small blip on my internet horizon until I read the article Who knows? by Simon Waldman which appeared in The Guardian newspaper on October 26 2004 (the article is here [[1]]

"Aha!" I thought. "This looks interesting." And I was right. Now I'll get out even less.

My interests include journalism; politics; civil and mechanical engineering (mostly transport-related); performing arts including theatre, dance, folk and folkrock music, 60s counter culture and its music; computers in general, IRC, the web, security issues, rebuilding and renovating discarded machines; canals and their traditions, narrowboats (ex-working ones, not modern cruisers); Cornwall; local history (local to me that is).

All the rest is so much flute music.
