    [edit] 2005-2006 offseason

Marté was part of a trade on Thursday, December 8, 2005, in which the Boston Red Sox sent shortstop Edgar Rentería to the Atlanta Braves.

On January 27, 2006 he was traded to the Cleveland Indians along with relief pitcher Guillermo Mota and catcher Kelly Shoppach, a player to be named later and cash considerations for left fielder Coco Crisp, catcher Josh Bard and relief pitcher David Riske.

    [edit] Career

Marté was hugely successful in the Braves farm system. Batting .275 with 20 homers and 74 RBI in 109 games in Triple-A, but only hit .140 in 57 at bats with the Braves. Locking up Chipper Jones for the long term, and losing Rafael Furcal in free agency, made Marté expendable for the Atlanta Braves.
