Andy Mackinaw is a fictional character on the US television series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, played by Mark McKinney. His character debuted on November 27, 2006 in the episode "B-12".

[edit] Personal History

Andy Mackinaw was introduced in "B-12" after Ricky and Ron's departure (from the prior episode: "The Option Period") when Matt needed an extra writer's help. Andy was previously a writer on Studio 60 years before, while Matt and Danny were still there. According to Danny, he was a very serious individual. After Matt and Danny's initial departure from the show, Andy's wife and daughter died in tragic circumstances. In "B-12", Andy takes Darius and Lucy under his wing to coach and direct them, at Matt's request, while Matt writes the show. Through his guidance, Darius and Lucy write their first sketch which is submitted for the show, though the sketch was removed due to an incident that occurred in the show's "real life" continuity which their sketch could be deemed to be insensitive considering its timing, since the sketch was about an incompetent bank robber who took hostages and the incident was a man who took his family as hostages and ultimately ended all of their lives including his own.
