The Andromedids meteor shower is associated with the comet 3D/Biela, which was last observed in 1852. The Andromedids produced spectacular displays of several thousand meteors per hour in 1872 and 1885, as a result of the parent comet breaking up.

Since then the Andromedids have faded away, but some activity is still possible each year in mid-November.
