[edit] Career
[edit] In the beginning
Throughout Huntington's life he has resided in Liverpool's suburb Walton, Merseyside. Huntington was educated at the Merchant Taylors' School, Crosby in Crosby, Merseyside and upon leaving sixth form enrolled at Oxford University studying History (Modern) & Politics.
Prior to this Huntington was an accomplished junior footballer who, after finishing his GCSE examinations in June 1997, signed for Plymouth Argyle as a goalkeeper. Due to financial problems at the club, Huntington's football career was cut short in September of that year when he was released by the club. He would return to Merchant Taylors' School to complete his A-Level's.
Outside of his studies, Huntington was briefly a male model for the Joy Freeman model agency in 1996. Though the career in fashion was only a short one, Huntington did pose for many famous lenses and would appear for world famous brands.
[edit] Amateur wrestling
Huntington sought out an amateur wrestling club that existed in Kirkby Stadium, Kirkby, where he would go to be taught freestyle, submission, and catch as catch can wrestling by former professional wrestler, Carl McGrath.
After the club closed down, Huntington moved to Aspull OWC and Cheadle OWC where he was then trained by Roy Wood and Dave Bury. Huntington would win his first amateur wrestling competition in May 1998, where he won the Merseyside Open Freestyle Wrestling Championship in the 95kg Division.
Between 1998 and 2000, Huntington would go on to win various amateur wrestling and submission wrestling competitions but would eventually decided to retire from the amateur scene in January 2000 to focus on a career in the professional ranks.
[edit] Professional wrestling
Whilst at Oxford, Huntington would begin training in the NWA UK Hammerlock academy in Sheffield, England. It was there thar Huntington first trained as a professional wrestler under the tuition of Johnny Moss and Alan Johnson at the EPW Training School.
After leaving EPW, Huntington co-founded the United Kingdom Wrestling Alliance where he not only wrestled, but was the main booker within the company. Upon the closure of the UKWA in June 2004, Huntington renamed himself Andi Rush and worked full-time as a professional wrestler for WAW, All Star Promotions and many others until he chose to retire from the business in September 2005. The reasons behind his decision to quit where later revealed to be his disillusion with the sport in general.
Andrew Huntington lives on Merseyside and in late 2006 stated on his MySpace site that he is in talks with promoters regarding a comeback in 2007.
