[edit] Bio
Andrew Bujalski is the writer-director of Funny Ha Ha (2005) and Mutual Appreciation (2006). He studied film at Harvard's Department of Visual and Environmental Studies before moving to Austin, Texas. He has taken major roles in both Funny Ha Ha and Mutual Appreciation, playing Mitchell and Lawrence respectively.
His work is noted for its lack of formal pretense and its endearingly realistic take on well-educated, yet socially inept young white people. Bujalski's witty, unassuming films are often compared to the work of John Cassavetes and held up as examples of true independent cinema. His filming techniques are comparable to directors like Cassavetes, and Iranian film-maker Abbas Kiarostami in its highly authentic portrayal of human life. As of 2006, Bujalski teaches undergraduate production courses at Boston University.
