Andreas Acoluth
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Andreas Acoluth (Bierutów, 6 March 1654—Breslau, 4 November 1704[1]) a native of Bierutów and professor of theology at Breslau, was an excellent scholar of orientalism.[2]
Acoluth published a specimen of the Qur'an in four languages, and of Obadiah in Armenian and Latin. The first of these is very scarce. Its title is Tetrapla Alcoranica; sive Specimen Alcorani quadrilinguis Arabici, Persici, Turcici, et Latini; Berlin, 1701, fol. For the second work, Obadias Armenus et Latinus cum Annotationibus, (Leipz. 1680, 4to.) he had a font of Armenian type prepared; but it is said to be an incorrect work.[2]
