Andrea Gruber

Andrea Gruber is an American born operatic soprano. She has performed at many of the most renowned opera houses, including the Royal Opera at Covent Garden, San Francisco Opera, Metropolitan Opera, and the Arena di Verona - which bestowed upon her its coveted "Premio" Award for the season's outstanding artist. Perhaps her most famous role is as Turandot, which she has sung on three continents, most recently in Tokyo. Other notable roles include lead roles in La fanciulla del West, Aida, Macbeth, La gioconda, Nabucco (Abagaille) and Simon Boccanegra (Amelia). In the German repertoire, she has sung Elsa in Lohengrin, both Venus and Elisabetta in Tannhauser, and Third Norn in Götterdämmerung (which was recorded by the Met).
Andrea Gruber's orchestral repertoire includes most of the major works for dramatic soprano including Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Missa Solemnis, Verdi's Requiem, Britten's War Requiem, Strauss's Four Last Songs, and Schoenberg's Gurre-Lieder, which she first sang with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle in both Philadelphia and at Carnegie Hall.
A native New Yorker, Andrea Gruber lives in Manhattan with her Golden Retriever Max.
