Andrea Fortunato

Andrea Fortunato (Salerno, July 26, 1971Perugia, April 25, 1995) was an Italian football player who played as a left-back for Juventus and the Italian national team.

He signed for the Old Lady from Genoa in summer of 1993, and such was his impression at Juventus that Arrigo Sacchi, head coach of the Italian team during that period, gave him a cap for the national team.

In May 1994, he had been diagnosed a form of leukemia. He died in 1995 because of pneumonia, just a few days after he received a bone graft from his brother.

His death is still fresh in the minds of Juventus' fans who fondly remember him for his tireless running and fine left footed delivery.
