Andrea Barzagli (born May 8, 1981 in Fiesole) is an Italian footballer who plays in the role of defender for Serie A team US Palermo.
His first football appearances are for Rondinella Firenze; then he played for Pistoiese, Ascoli and Chievo, before being signed by Palermo in the summer of 2004.
He has 12 caps for Italy national football team, and was promoted to the role of starter for the 2006 FIFA World Cup quarter-final against Ukraine after an injury to Alessandro Nesta and the suspension of Marco Materazzi.
Barzagli also won a bronze medal with the Olympic team in 2004.
This season there has been constant speculation about his future with Juventus tipped to sign him either during the January tansfer window or at the end of the season.
