[edit] Professional Football
He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the 1st round of the 1982 draft.
He soon established himself as one of the top linebackers in the NFL, and went on to make the Pro Bowl five times(1984-88). He recorded at least 7 sacks in all but two of his 11 NFL seasons.
In the 1985 season, Tippett led the AFC with 16.5 sacks and assisted his team to a championship appearance in Super Bowl XX.
Tippett retired after the 1993 season, finishing with a career total of 100 sacks, 1 interception, and 19 fumble recoveries, which he returned for 75 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
[edit] Awards
Tippett was inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame in 1999.
Andre is regularly nominated for voting into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but a lack of post-season appearances by the Patriots during his tenure is widely considered the reason why he has not received the required votes for election.[citation needed]
