Andre Gurode (born March 6, 1978 in Houston, Texas) is an American football center for the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL. He was selected with the fifth pick of the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of the University of Colorado.[citation needed]
On October 1, 2006, in the third quarter of a game against the Tennessee Titans, Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth stomped on Gurode's head, after removing Gurodes's helmet. Haynesworth's cleats caused a laceration requiring thirty stitches.[citation needed] Haynesworth was ejected, and subsequently suspended by the NFL for five games without pay.
