Andrés López Forero (born June 25, 1971, in Bogotá, Colombia) is the pioneer of stand-up comedy in Colombia.

[edit] Early career
López attended high school at the Liceo Navarra, a school known for its high academic standards. He began performing in the Los Andes University, where he studied systems engineering and anthropology. He later travelled to Toronto to study Organisational Motivation and became a dedicated reader and researcher of human behaviour. Later on, López worked at the Colombian radio station La Mega de RCN, where he created hundreds of comic stories and several characters' voices.

His most recent show, La Pelota de Letras (Spanish for "the lettered ball"), consists of a subtle sociological analysis of the life in Colombia from the 1960's to the 2000's. By the end of 2006, more than 900,000 people had attended his show since the first performance at Hard Rock Cafe Bogotá in February 2004. In August 2005, after opening a concert for 44,000 people, he received a standing ovation at the end of his show. Around the end of 2005, Andrés López released his original La Pelota de Letras DVD under the Universal Music Group label.
On March 2 of 2006 Andrés López was presented with the plaque of the DIAMOND DVD from Universal Music Colombia for sales over 60,000. Attending this celebration was the famous singer Wilfrido Vargas. More than 100,000 DVDs have been sold At the end of 2006, this makes the DVD the best seller DVD in Colombia.
López has performed in many places, including sold-out audiences in New York and Miami in 2005. After these shows he was presented with the HOLA Award for "Outstanding Solo Performance".
From July to October 2006, Andrés López performed an international tour of La Pelota de Letras with international adaptation in four different countries. The cities visited were: Madrid, Los Angeles, Panama, Quito, Toronto, New York, Miami, Greenville, Houston, Orlando and Atlanta. Attendance ranged between 700 to 4,500 people for each show.

According to the Colombian Semana Magazine, Andrés is one of the 40 Most Influential People in Colombia under 40 years of age. The article describes this people as successful entrepreneurs and leaders. The most important newspaper in Colombia described his recent show La Pelota de Letras: "The performance portrays the customs of recent generations of Colombians, which is better than any sociology study".
The Colombia media has recognized his work for making young people go back to the theaters.
Tour coverage with the international media has distinguished Andrés López as one of the most talented comedians in the world today. Also mentioned has been the importance of bringing happiness to Colombians and latinamericans living in other countries.

Andrés has a new alternative for companies, he created a new aspect of motivational speech for employees including parts of his show on the performance. Many companies have used his services to facilitate radical internal changes. Andres has also been a part of numerous talk shows, hosting TV programs, a multitude of interviews on TV and radio, and has been writing for newspapers and various magazines.
