Andhra Pradesh cricket team

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Andhra Pradesh cricket team also known simply as the Andhra cricket team is an Indian domestic cricket team representing the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is, however, one of two teams representing the people of Andhra Pradesh, the other team being the Hyderabad cricket team, which mainly represents the city of Hyderabad. It is in the Elite Group of theRanji Trophy. It has been steadily producing young players including Under-19s captain Ambati Rayudu and Indian cricket team batsman Venugopal Rao. It falls under the South Zone of Indian cricket. It has, however, never featured in a Ranji Trophy final and has therefore never had a chance to participate in the Irani Trophy. In the 2005/06 season, it only achieved 1 win out of 6, a poor performance that led to its exclusion from the semi-finals round.
