Anderson Council

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Anderson Council or Anderson Council (sometimes misspelled Anderson Counsel) is or was the name of several small music bands, mostly tribute bands to Pink Floyd.

[edit] Overview

Pink Floyd having derived their name from joining the first names of bluesmen Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, many bands thought of joining their last names into "Anderson Council".

They include, chronologically, at least:

  • Anderson Council, a 1970s US tribute band to Pink Floyd.
  • Anderson Council (Virginia - 1993 - 2001) Founded in Richmond, VA as a garage band by Lance Grandis (drums), Andrew Lipke (vocals, guitar, keys), Brian Sprouse (bass, vocals), and Kevin Glenn (guitars, vocals), doing classic and modern rock covers made unique by some improvisational extensions, and notable originals by Andrew. By 1997, Andrew and Brian were replaced by Charlie Cohen (bass, vocals), and Rob Moore (guitars). This line-up was to become the core of an improv/jam focus which found some success in Richmond, and even more in the jam-band fertile Harrisonburg, VA, home to James Madison University. [1]
  • The Anderson Council or TAC, a short-lived 1990s college band (apparently from California) with Rick Salsman, Phil Mack, and Alex Salazar, covering Pink Floyd among others [2][3].
  • Anderson Council, aka The Pink Floyd Live Experience and The Pink Floyd Experience (not to be confused with the homonymous Canadian and New Zealand bands), a small 1990s Dutch tribute band covering Pink Floyd [4][5].
  • The Anderson Council, a 2000s US band from New Brunswick, New Jersey that plays all-original music - but pulls a strong influence from Syd Barrett-era Floyd and other UK 60s groups. They describe themselves as "psychpowerpop". [6][7].
  • Anderson Council, a 2000s Italian tribute band to Pink Floyd [8][9].
  • The Anderson Council, a metal band formed in 2003 in the small city of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Members include Ryan Chip, Tommy Medina, Rafael Medina, and Alex Podruchny.[10]
  • The Anderson Council, a 1990s rock band from Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The band played a number of Pink Floyd songs, other covers and own work as well. In 1997 drummer Bauke Hüsken and bassist Bart Rijpers formed Freak Out![11]
