Andersen Windows is a major American window manufacturer based in Bayport, Minnesota.
Andersen is a privately owned company founded in 1903 by Hans Andersen. The company, which employs over 9000 people, manufactures over six million prefabricated wooden doors and windows.
Andersen was a pioneer in prefabricated building components. In 1905, it introduced the "Ten Minute Window", which was a "two bundle" kit of standardized vertical and horizontal window parts. In 1966, they introduced their Perma-Shield® Cladding System, using extruded vinyl to clad a wooden core, a process developed with the assistance of Italian inventor Luigi Zanini. In 1991, they introduced their Fibrex® vinyl and wood fiber composite, using recycled industrial sawdust, which is mechanically extruded to make door and window parts.
