Ancient healing device
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the Stargate fictional universe, the Ancient healing device was a powerful technology built by the Ancients to heal extreme injuries and even revive the dead.
The technology was so powerful that it could give life to something which was never alive. However, the device is extremely dangerous to humans, causing them to become deranged and violent. [1] The Priors apparently have a similar power, as they are able to transform a person into an extremely resilient being bent on killing everyone around him. [2]
According to Daniel Jackson, the device is the origin of the fountain of youth mythology. The information that all water flowed towards it, and the strange truth to that statement, would seem to prove this theory. [1]

[edit] Goa'uld Interaction
The Goa'uld Telchak based the Sarcophagus technology on the Ancient device. Originally, the device was so powerful that it was destructive. Telchak modified it (by turning down the power) until he developed the Sarcophagus. Anubis went to war with Telchak over the device. Although he won, the device was never found.
Once Anubis Ascended, thereby gaining access to all the knowledge of the Ancients, he used the device to bring life to his Kull Warriors. [1] Later on, Samantha Carter and Jacob Carter used the device to develop a weapon which blocked the Healing Device's effect on the Kull Warriors, thus killing them. This technology later became known as the Kull disruptor. [3]
[edit] The Tau'ri's Encounter
The Tau'ri's first encounter with the device was when Dr. Daniel Jackson and Dr. Lee went on a mission to find the device in South America. They found it after following information which Daniel's grandfather Nicholas Ballard left (during his archeological career). This information said, "All water flows towards it." After walking down a stream and past a waterfall, they entered a chamber. They were able to locate the device in the chamber after pouring water on the floor and seeing where it flowed. The chamber was booby trapped to flood if the device were removed; however, Drs. Jackson and Lee survived this trap.
Minutes after finding the device, they were kidnapped by a group of terrorists and soon after interrogated about the device. After refusing to reveal anything, the terrorists experimented with the device, figuring-out how to activate it. A dead man a great distance away (whom the terrorists had killed earlier) was revived not long after the device's activation. However, upon his resurrection, he became deranged and violent, shooting at everyone he saw and rather resilient, taking many bullets before dying again. This was a clear indication that the device had psychological effects similar to the Sarcophagus and was powerful enough to heal across great distances. [1]
The device would later be mentioned in a proposed plot for Martin Lloyd's Wormhole X-Treme! television movie by Cameron Mitchell, where it transformed everyone present at the SGC into zombies. [4]
