[edit] Song meaning
The song is rumoured to be about the lead singer accidentally kissing a friend while intoxicated. He claims it was an honest mistake, which would be where the song title originated from.
[edit] Music video
The video for "An Honest Mistake" features the band performing amidst a string of dominoes being toppled. The chain includes many other objects, such as light bulbs, eggs, and an aquarium. When the final domino falls and the chain ends, it sends a flaming arrow toward a target, but the arrow misses to the right.
Throughout the video, the only color seen is yellow.
