The Gemini Warriors attack the Scouts.

‎An Animated Mess is the seventeenth episode of the English dub of the anime metaseries Sailor Moon.

A Sailor V anime movie is in production according to a commercial Serena (voiced by Terri Hawkes) sees on TV and Serena is anxiously awaiting the film's release. Two of the animators, teenaged Cassie and Laurie, are best friends and are slightly disappointed in the fact that the director thinks their work is less than perfect. When Laurie accidentally drops her folder on the street one day after class, Amy (Karen Bernstein) sees the folder on the ground on her way out of a store, but doesn't have time to return it right then because she is busy with homework, and decides to return it later that night. On her way to the studio, Neflyte (Kevin Lund) drives by, on the way to possess Laurie. Before he arrives, Laurie looks through Cassie's pictures and is impressed with how good they are. She hopes hers could be that good someday, and decides to use the special pencils the two bought together a few years back when they were applying for animation school, and promised to not use them except in special cases and only if they told each other. However, most of the pencils are already used up and she feels guilty about it. Neflyte then enters the studio stating he was a fan and encourages her to do her best, possessing her last pencil in the process. Mercury confronts Neflyte on the way out, but he speeds away quickly. Cassie returns with some dinner for Laurie and Amy walks in to return the folder, but Laurie just walks out of the room. Cassie apologizs and tells Amy to come back later. The next day she comes back with Serena and Raye (Katie Griffin), who are excited about being in an animation studio. Laurie comes out and scolds them for being so loud, and Cassie scolds Laurie for losing her temper at guests. Laurie eventually leaves and Cassie and the Scouts follow her to the top of the building, where the Gemini Warriors eventually emerge from the pencil. The Gemini Warriors begin attacking Moon, Mercury and Mars with their own attacks, using Mars Fire Ignite and Mercury Bubbles Blast. They seem unstoppable, and nearly defeat the Scouts, but begin arguing over who should finish the Scouts off, and their ribbon of friendship was untied, leaving them open for a combined attack from the Scouts. This defeats the Warriors and returns Laurie to normal. Laurie then apologises to Cassie and they make up.
