Many people in the surroundings of the planned construction site complaint that "the construction is way too expensive" and that "a virtual tunnel would be a lot cheaper," thus starting a controversy about how the Nuevo León state government handles economical resources.

Some of these claims are unfounded, and many other people believe that those who leave nearby are just trying to avoid their properties from dropping their stock value.
