Amsheet is a predominantly Christian seaside town in the country of Lebanon about 50 km north of Beirut. Amsheet's population is around 10,000. There are many old churches in Amsheet, as well as a mosk.
Ernest Renan the French philosopher, lived in Amsheet for a long period, and his sister is burried there at St. Marie Church.
The famous singer Marcel Khalife was born in Amsheet in 1950.
Amsheet was attacked by Israel in the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. A military base on the coast of Amsheet was attacked.
