Amrita Hunjan is a British Asian singer/actress and one third of the girl group Rouge. This group has been stylistically compared to Destiny's Child and Mis-teeq.

[edit] Birth and upbringing
Amrita was born on June 25, 1984 to Indian Punjabi parents. She was bought up in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Regarding her upbringing Amrita says, "My roots are Indian but I grew up in Britain. I'm from Leeds – pure Yorkshire born and bred." [1]

Amrita Hunjan is the oldest member of the London based Indian/Asian influenced pop group Rouge. Their songs include "Don't be shy" and "Chinese Whispers". The Rouge album was due to appear in summer 2006. Miss India 2004 runner up, Neha Raizada, was quoted after a singing performance from Amrita that "no one has ever seen an Indian girl sing like that before, she was awesome!" [2]

She is currently studying towards a degree in Dentistry at the University of Birmingham. She achieved all As in her GCSEs.

She is a previous Miss India UK 2004 Winner, and is due to feature in the British-made film Don't Stop Dreaming as Shalini, alongside Michelle Collins and Richard Blackwood.[3]
