Amory Dwight Mayo

Amory Dwight Mayo (b. 1823, Warwick, Massachusetts - d. 1907) was an American clergyman and educator.

He was born in Warwick, Massachusetts and educated at Amherst College. He studied theology with Rev. Hosea Ballou. From 1846 to 1872 he was pastor of churches in several States. He served at Gloucester, Massachusetts, Cleveland, Ohio, Albany, New York, and later at Cincinnati, Ohio and Springfield, Massachusetts.

From 1872 onwards Reverend Mayo was involved in generating educational opportunities for the people in the South who were in need due to the War Between the States.

He also was an intermittent professor or lecturer in the Meadville Theological School in Meadville, Pennsylvania. A number of his reports were published by the United States Bureau of Education.
