My apologies...It wasn't my intent to remove content, and I wasn't aware that I had. I only recently discovered Wikipedia, and I've been trying to add important things and correct some horrible misspellings and incomplete sentences. I've worked in Pittsburgh sports for several years, and was hoping to keep things factually correct. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 141.158.69.59 (talk • contribs) 23:09, 25 May 2006 (UTC).
- That's no problem at all! There's absolutely nothing wrong with making a few mistakes--we all do. I certainly appreciate your efforts on Wikipedia and hope that you will continue editing. Just a couple of tips: If you could please sign your posts (not your articles) with four tildes, like so: ~~~~, that will produce your username (or IP address in this case) and the date/time, which makes it a lot easier to follow conversations and respond to questions without having to dig through page histories. Also, using edit summaries with your edits will alert other editors of what changes you have made and will prevent your edits from being reverted. Thanks for your message, and happy editing! Feel free to contact me if you need help with anything. AmiDaniel (talk) 23:09, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

- Wikipedia is not a free adserver. Please stop recreating the article. If you disagree with its deletion then seek a deletion review, as repeatedly recreating it is vandalism and will result in your being blocked. AmiDaniel (talk) 23:04, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

- Well, if you haven't noticed this is the Free Encyclopedia, money doesn't matter here. What matters is the quality of the encyclopedia. If you want adspace, then you're going to have to pay for it, and Wikipedia won't be the one providing it to you. If you would like to discuss the matter in a professional manner, I'll be glad to respond. But please refrain from attacking me, or you will not receive a reply in the future. AmiDaniel (talk) 23:37, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- I wonder how much Jimbo could get for you on the open market... I think the above must be a joke; the combination of ortography and syntax doesn't, to me, suggest non-native speaker but, instead, native speaker feigning a less-than-proficient command of the English language; it's not great satire, of course, but it'll do, I suppose. Also, if he elects to purchase only your ass, may I buy a kidney; the removal of the latter is surely much less intrusive than that of the former... Joe 23:58, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

- Mwuhahaha, but just wait until I reveal my new VP with an RSS-feed that uses precached Wiki API history to revert edits that I spent all night working on :-). It is suhweeeeet, and ohh so fast. Revert's still lagging just a tad bit behind, but my god I can go through 50 edits in a minute, and it also warns me if my revert failed just like admin rollback. :-) AmiDaniel (talk) 01:33, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sounds nice! Is that last Javascript bug going to be fixed as well? I get one error on start up, have you found out what causes that yet? Prodego talk 01:37, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Well, I thought I fixed it the last time, but apparently not. The error is actually resulting from nothing that I'm doing, it's a JS error that occurs whenever some JS engines try to render Wikipedia pages that IE supresses to the toolbar, but I have no ability to that. However, I'm now using Wiki API to retrieve page histories (where a lot of the errors were occuring), and the API doesn't utilize javascript so I'd have to think those errors are now gone. Likewise I'm now retrieving recent changes from the RSS feed, which doesn't use javascript either. Time will tell, I guess. AmiDaniel (talk) 01:40, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Oh man, sorry about that. I didn't know that Vandalproof just put it on like that. Big mistake. :(--Jersey Devil 03:47, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
While I am here, I might as well ask how this thing is suppose to work? The options don't come up in regular articles only on the user pages/talk pages of some users. How am I suppose to tag an article for speedy deletion or revert vandalism when the options don't come up?--Jersey Devil 04:02, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- The standard way to use it would be to load the recent changes (by clicking update) and then click on each item in the list. It will load the last diff and enable the Rollback buttons. Clicking on one will revert the change and post a message on a user's talk page. When you're viewing a user's talk page (not a diff of a user's talk page, mind you) the buttons will be in talk mode, where you can post welcomes, etc. For speedy deletion, you can select the appropriate tag from the drop-down menu anytime you view an article and it will post the template. There's also a very incomplete help page that you may find useful. VP's got a fairly high learning curve, but I'm sure you'll be able to figure it all out. Good luck! And feel free to ask if you need help with anything. AmiDaniel (talk) 04:10, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I click on "Update" but it does nothing. I don't see what I could be doing wrong.--Jersey Devil 04:21, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Make sure you don't have enhanced recent changes turned on in your Wikipedia preferences. AmiDaniel (talk) 04:24, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, it is not checked on my preferences so that is not the problem. Another strange thing is that though I can use the Vandalproof options and am on the list of users always initially as I log on it says Your log-in request failed.--Jersey Devil 04:28, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Concerning a "page vandalized" warning
I noticed that such a comment was recently left on the IP user talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:217.155.0.238
The reason I arrived at that talk pace was because I noticed a problem with the current Muhammad_Ali article - that there was a second copy of the "First Title" section. The history of the article tells me that this user actually corrected this problem (a correction which was later reverted).
For the specific diff during the history, please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Muhammad_Ali&diff=55044202&oldid=55039522
Whether or not the user performed other acts which were actually vandalism I do not know. I just saw a mistake, and someone chastised for correcting it. I'm sure you'll agree it was likely an honest mistake of wrong identification.
We all love Wikipedia and take the folks that spend hours moderating for granted. I just wanted to say thanks for all your work.
MJKazin 14:47, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, that edit looked to be about as clear-cut vandalism / content blanking as you can get, that is until I saw this later edit where User:82.207.201.63 explained in his edit summary that the entry was a duplicate. It was an honest mistake, and thank you for bringing this to my attention--I have no attention of chastising anyone for trying to improve articles. I do, however, still believe that he had no intention of improving the article--that is what merely a coincidence of sorts that he removed the duplicate entry--as he went on to blank the page, including sections that should be there, twice more here and here. In any case, an apology is certainly in order, as it's quite possible that my reverting his good-faith edit led to his later bad-faith edits. Thank you for your kind words and for notifying me of my mistake; please feel free to contact me if I make any similar mistakes in the future. AmiDaniel (talk) 23:26, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I've just added the template {{Poland Squad 2006 World Cup}} and some <br />... It was not vandalism! Thanks. Neurillon 00:26, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. It was this diff with the additional whitespace that threw me off. For future knowledge, the best way to deal with spacing issues like that is to add {{-}}, which I just did to the article--that expands the height of the sections to fit to the infoboxes, images, etc. Also, please try to use descriptive edit summaries with every edit you make. If, for instance, you had provided a summary to the extent of "Adding spaces to fix alignment problems," I likely would have examined the edit more closely and in the end tried to help you out with the problem instead of simply reverting it as vandalism. Again, I'm sorry for reverting your edits, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or if you feel I've made any other mistakes. Thanks. AmiDaniel (talk) 04:57, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, Poland and Germany play on 14 June, Daniel is an avowed Germany supporter...Daniel's reversion was clearly driven by animus toward the Poland squad. Historically, of course, there probably have been more egregious instances of pro-German disruption in Poland, so perhaps an indefinite ban isn't in order; we'll just move Germany to Group E. :) Joe 05:29, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Lol! Perhaps there is something subconscious going on there, though I'm by no means an avid supporter of Germany in the World Cup. I might also note that ironically I'm currently working on a translation of the article Międzyrzec Podlaski from German (there's more in the Polish one, but I don't speak Polish). - Why not use User:Example User? --GeorgeMoney T·C 05:05, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Oh, okay. Well, in that case maybe we should use GeorgeMoney's User:Example User instead. I'm not sure it's quite appropriate to use a real user, even Jimbo, to demonstrate how it works. Also, I don't completely understand the purpose of setting the defaults for the paramaters--it seems to me that {{user2}} should produce [[User:|]]... instead of an example user, but I'll leave that up to you. Feel free to revert it or make any subsequent changes you'd like, though I still think it best, in any case, to not use Jimbo. Thanks for contacting me before reverting. It's much appreciated =D. WP:SPLICE request
Any idea which one is the correct title, Międzyrzecz Podlaski or Międzyrzec Podlaski? In either case, I've merged the histories at the latter title, and if that's wrong, it can be moved over top of the redirect by any user if needed, because the other title is not contaminated by extra revisions. — May. 27, '06 [06:53] <freak|talk>
- Woa, it didn't prompt me that I had a message... strange. The latter appears to be correct (without the z). That seems to be the case on the German and Polish versions, though there was apparently some minor quarrel about that a while ago, thus the fork. I'd say to leave it as it is now unless evidence supporting the former pops up, which I doubt it will. I'm not too familiar with the topic; I just translated what I could find. AmiDaniel (talk) 06:57, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Redirects
I'll repeat a question here I asked of you a few days ago at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Adding words for redirection purposes: Is there any chance we could get a script to look for article titles with diacritics and suggest redirects without them (Axel Hagerstrom is, and Axel Haegerstroem could conceivably be, a redirect to Axel Hägerström) whenever these are lacking? It would also be useful if it could identify every case where a possible redirect is a full article (or redirects somewhere else). In many cases these are probably articles on something completely different or disambiguation pages (Åmål, Amal) but in some cases these may be duplicates which should be merged and redirected. Tupsharru 06:22, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- My apologies for not noticing your question on the Village Pump. I think that would be quite plausible and simple to implement--I can simply a table with ö → oe → o, etc., and then on each entry compose every possible combination of those. Let me work out the specifics of it, and I'll get back to you. My offer still stands to write the script to create redirects from user input as well, and we could likely merge these too ideas into one. AmiDaniel (talk) 06:27, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks! Tupsharru 06:43, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I have a script going now that I think is right on the money, but I thought I'd run it by you just to make sure. Currently it only handles the ä, ö, ü diacritics, but adding it the whole lot would not be too difficult. Anyway, where it's at right now: If I type in "Hägerströmung" (not your original example, but I wanted something to test all three) it produces the following list of potential redirects:
- Hagerströmüng
- Haegerströmüng
- Hagerstromüng
- Haegerstroemüng
- Hagerstromung
- Haegerstroemueng
- Hägerstromüng
- Hägerstroemüng
- Hägerstromung
- Hägerstroemueng
- Hägerströmung
- Hägerströmueng
Do you see any that are missing? Is this what you wanted? AmiDaniel (talk) 02:38, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

- Alright, well although I didn't hear a response from you, I went ahead and finished up the script. I'm going to play arund with it for a day to see if there may be some things that need tweaking, and I'll post a download sometime tomorrow. You can see my testing of the tool here. It now works for all diacrtics, not just ä, ö, and ü. Let me know if I did anything wrong. AmiDaniel (talk) 05:23, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think there are quite a few others, such as
- a, aa -> å (Swedish, Danish, Norwegian)
- ae -> æ (Danish, Norwegian, and various languages using the Latin ligature æ, including English)
- o, oe, ö -> ø (Danish & Norwegian; redirects from forms with diacritics to other forms with diacritics may be useful, if for instance a Danish name is taken from a German or Swedish source, but only within reason of course),
- c, ch -> č (Czech)
- c -> ç (French)
- L -> Ł (Polish)
- I think there are quite a few others, such as
-
- I'm sure there are others, but I think you will need input from people with different language backgrounds. As for redirects from other forms with diacritics, the script obviously doesn't need to suggest redirects from anything graphically similar, but where the pronunciation is the same (as with ö -> ø, ø -> ö), and there is a significant chance for historical reasons that either spelling may occur in the same name (as with Danish and Swedish). Tupsharru 07:37, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, there are some problems with non-ASCII characters like Ł, and I don't really have too much experience dealing with UTF string manipulation--I may be able to work these in later, but let me go ahead and show you the conversions I have currently:

Case "ä", "á", "à", "â", "ã": FirstAlt = "a" Case "å": FirstAlt = "a" Case "æ": FirstAlt = "ae" Case "ë": FirstAlt = "e" Case "ö", "ó", "ò", "ô": FirstAlt = "o" Case "ø": FirstAlt = "o" Case "ü", "ú", "ù", "û": FirstAlt = "u" Case "ÿ", "ý": FirstAlt = "y" Case "ç": FirstAlt = "c" Case "ñ": FirstAlt = "n" Case "ä", "á", "à", "â", "ã": SecondAlt = "ae" Case "å": FirstAlt = "aa" Case "æ": FirstAlt = "a" Case "ë": SecondAlt = "ee" Case "ö", "ó", "ò", "ô": SecondAlt = "oe" Case "ø": FirstAlt = "ö" Case "ü", "ú", "ù", "û": SecondAlt = "ue"

-
- Sorry, for not converting it back into an easy-to-read table, but I think you can get the jist of it from the code. Essentially, FirstAlt is the first possible alternative to the diacritic, and SecondAlt is, naturally, the second alternative. As it is currently, the number of different transliterations is quite large (2*[Number of diacratics]!), and adding a third alternative for each diacritic (or even just certain ones like ø) would make this number even larger. Anyway, for now I think I'll just upload what I have and see if it works for you. We can deal with unicode characters later. AmiDaniel (talk) 08:39, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
-
The following are overkill in my opinion:
Case "ö", "ó", "ò", "ô": SecondAlt = "oe" Case "ü", "ú", "ù", "û": SecondAlt = "ue" Case "ä", "á", "à", "â", "ã": SecondAlt = "ae"
It is really enough with:
Case "ö": SecondAlt = "oe" Case "ü": SecondAlt = "ue" Case "ä": SecondAlt = "ae"
(Not sure if the code makes any sense, as I just took out stuff, but you get my point.) In addition, ø needs redirecting from oe (Ole Roemer -> Ole Rømer). OE, UE and AE are variants for the umlauts, not for every other possible diacritic. Even though it is conceivable through OCR error or for other reasons that a "ü" may end up as a "û" in a name, I think it is a bad idea to start mass-producing redirects such as Ole Rómer, Ole Rômer, Ole Ròmer -> Ole Rømer. Tupsharru 13:13, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, first of all, in response to the 27 alternatives that you had found. My thinking with doing it this way was that people would either use the diacritic (ä), the one-char alternative (a), or the two-char alternative (ae). In other words, I thought it conceivable that one would search for Hagerstromüng, but not for Hagerstromueng. Reworking the algorithms to deal with possible combinations of first alternatives and second alternatives is quite a bit more complicated, though certainly do-able, and, as you noted, would create for a three-diacritic article name 13 additional redirects. Let me sleep on this a bit and get back to you. Then, for the second part, I definitely see your point that one looking for ó would likely not search for oe, and I'll fix that accordingly as usually only the umlauts can be translated to ae, oe, ue. And then lastly, I apologize for taking so long to get back to you--it got barried beneath the other messages on the talk page and I didn't notice it until just now. Okay, let me make those couple of changes and then I'll put up the tool, and you can play around with it a bit and tell me if you need it to handle combinations of first alts and second alts. I'll probably have it up either tomorrow or the next day. AmiDaniel (talk) 08:11, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Abuse of VandalProof
Dear Sir:

Strangely, the user name "YankSox" declared the use of VandalProof, but all the edits being produced by it appear to be coming from a anonymous user.
At one point (about six months ago) the matter was submitted to the Mediation Cabal for ajudication, but shortly after that the edit abuse ended. It has recently started up again, and I have requested Mediation again.
Please see:
Please advise me as to how this matter can be settled.

Comment by Weepwoo
Hey listen up, it is quite hypocritical for you or anyone to threaten or accuse this page of being vandalism. As for others people’s pages, please be aware that it was only in retribution. As for you calling this page nonsense, then please refer to the hundreds of pages on this site that are also nonsense. Furthermore, just because you have absolutely no idea what the intentions behind the page are please stop trying to rationalize your behavior for deleting it as valid, because it is not. The page was created for educational purposes at two well respected universities, and was used in three different class room exercises so as for you calling it nonsense it is laughable. We will continue to post this page as a protest to you and the others who are ignorantly using your abilities to delete pages without any real knowledge of what is valid, and what is nonsense.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Weepwoo (talk • contribs) .
- So far, you have vandalised userpages, broken our civility policy, made personal attacks, and have otherwise disrupted Wikipedia. If you continue to violate our policy you will no longer be allowed to edit Wikipedia. (Note that reposting deleted page content is a violation of policy.) Please review the Manual of Style, the Simplified Ruleset as well as the Criteria for Speedy Deletion, and reconsider your contributions. Thanks, --Avillia (Avillia me!) 20:46, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, Avillia, and now I have a few comments I'd like to add too. First of all, if you can point me to some of these pages that are also nonsense, I will see to it that they are deleted as well. Secondly, as I've said before, you can recreate this article in your own userspace, where no one will even think to delete it, and you can spare yourself all of this stress. You can even contact one of the administrators listed at Category:User undeletion to have the exact contents of the article prior to its deletion moved to your userspace for you. Thirdly, if you disagree with the article's deletion then seek a deletion review. If a deletion review believes the article merits inclusion, it will not be deleted again--even if they simply concur with you that it was not an appropriate candidate for speedy deletion, then the article will go through the AfD process before it is deleted again. Fourthly and finally, if you recreate this article again without seeking a deletion review first, you will be blocked. AmiDaniel (talk) 22:25, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi,
Hi my name is Brian Connor. STOP DELETING MY BIO. PAGE! I have found a page on myself, and although some of it is false info, I am a real artist. I have Made several albums, and they have sold by the thousands. Lets not get into any more trouble you and me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Flourgus (talk • contribs) 23:34, 27 May 2006 (UTC).
- I'm drawing a complete blank--have we ever even interacted? I don't see any posts from me on your talk page, and I don't remember ever tagging any of your articles for deletion. I'm assuming this is in regards to Brian james connor, the article that begins "Brian James Connor (pronounced) bry-ann jayms Con-or Is thought to be the coolest kid in the world. He was born on September 21, 1993, though some scientists debate that he was actually born closer to Halloween." Unfortunately, the article does not even begin to assert notability, let alone defend it with verifiable sources. The website www.BrianConnorIsTheRestoration.com does not even exist. Please read over WP:CSD#A7, the speedy deletion criterion relevant to this article, and also read over Wikipedia's notability guidelines for people. You can gladly create such articles in your userspace, for instance on your userpage; however, the main article namespace should not be used for vanity articles. Once the article is deleted, feel free to contact any of the administrators listed at Category:User undeletion to have the article userfied (restored and moved to your userspace) for you. If you have any questions or need help with anything, please feel free to contact me. Thanks. AmiDaniel (talk) 23:47, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- I might be way off here, but wouldn't "real artists" know grammar, spelling and proper sentence structure? — Nathan (talk) 23:52, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Wow, No crap the artical is nonsence, however some of it is real. I am a real musician, and the page will stay. It's my idea of humor. You cant't do anything to stop me, However I can stop you by editing every page on this site.
Have a cheerful day!{{subst:usigned|Flourgus}}
- Do not make threats against other users and do not threaten to vandalize. Comments like these aren't taken lightly. BTW, Daniel, you haven't ever tagged the article, so I am not sure why Flourgus approached you either. --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 23:57, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Help
I try to open the Vandalproof but I have to choose wich program' has to open it, I know it should open alone but I tried with Firefox and IE, to see what happends and ... nothing! —Argentino (talk/cont.) 01:26, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Right-click on it, press "rename", then at the end of the name, put ".exe" . Then open the file. --GeorgeMoney T·C 01:57, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) There are porblems downloading from freepository using FireFox. The easiest fix is simply to rename the "VandalProof" file to "VandalProof.exe" and try running it again. AmiDaniel (talk) 01:59, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof
Do you mind if I mirror vandalproof on my website? --GeorgeMoney T·C 05:19, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Go right ahead. It would actually be much appreciated as they are a lot of problems for FF/Opera users downloading from freepository. AmiDaniel (talk) 07:11, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, now it is at http://wikipedia.georgemoney.com/VandalProof/VandalProof.exe --GeorgeMoney T·C 07:21, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Parma Witch Hunt
The suspected paragraph, which was originally copied from the Parma history section, was blanket put on the Witch Hunt page temporarily with the intention of further editing planned for that very day. No one is trying to restore the paragraph that you deem suspicious. Thus, there is no respectable reason to keep up the copyright page when this matter is of no concern and especially since the suspect paragraph was not intended to be there for long any way to begin with. As for why the Witch Hunt page exists, this was part of an edit dispute resolution, i.e. that a separate article would be created for the Witch Hunt so that the Parma, Ohio page would not be overwhelmed with history. Best, --172.131.104.155 15:39, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- I fail to see what was so difficult about simply working on the temporary subpage until the article was deleted--given that the current text is blatantly biased text taken in whole from the article on Parma, Ohio, it wouldn't shock me if someone goes, "Oh, look, there's actually well-written text in the article's history" and restores the copyvio text. But, whatever, I'll try to calm down my process wonkishness. I do, however, still have to return to the question posed by Wizardman, "What is the point of this article?" I could almost see this as a POV fork, as its only purpose seems to be an attack page on a certain group of politicians in Ohio. A search for "Parma Witch Hunt" returns exactly 0 hits, so again I ask, is this topic really notable enough to warrant an article unto its own? Is it even notable enough to warrant inclusion in the Parma, Ohio article? AmiDaniel (talk) 18:26, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, it is as it was the big news story in Parma for months and even headlined the front page at top of the Cleveland Page dealer for several days in a row.--172.129.24.191 22:34, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Greetings!
Don't mean to annoy you, but have you checked your e-mail recently? I don't want to be rude, but I fear it may not have got through your spam filter, since you've been editing but it's been nearly 24hrs. If I'm wrong, and I'm disrupting your schedule, ignore me! Thanks. --Xyrael T 19:19, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Woa, sorry about that. It got gobbled up by my spam filter. I still get thirty "Enlarge Your Penis" ads in my inbox every day, and then all the e-mail I actually want to get winds up in my Junk Mail box, which I've gotten better about checking, but I still don't check it everyday. Anyway, yes, I got it, and I can certainly use all the help I can get. You seem beyond a doubt competent enough, so give me a couple of minutes and you'll be set. Thanks for your offer! AmiDaniel (talk) 19:33, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
VP versions.
No offense, but I'd appreciate it if you'd please tell me of new versions rather than outright remove my site from the list of mirrors. It would give me a chance to download the new version right away rather than find out by myself. As you know, I was on Wikibreak and not checking my watchlist. I'd just prefer it if you tell me so I can update quick. Can you do that for me please? Thank you. — Nathan (talk) 19:14, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm sorry Nathan. It all happened rather quickly, and at 5:30 in the morning, when I suddenly discovered the bug and immediately released the next revision. I would have contacted you but I sort-of spaced it, and instead simply removed the links to avoid confusion. Thank you so much for mirroring the app, and I will be sure to let you know in the future. AmiDaniel (talk) 19:29, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Mirroring
Can you please give me a list of files to mirror? --GeorgeMoney T·C 19:43, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- There's a list on http://nathanr.com/vandalproof — Nathan (talk) 05:38, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Your global blacklist
Hi, I was thinking of using User:AmiDaniel/VP/GlobalBL to highlight likely vandals with my vandal tool. Would you have any objections to that? I can decipher it - the javascript for doing so would be in plain view as part of User:Lupin/recent2.js, although the list itself would not. Lupin|talk|popups 02:52, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's just fine with me. I'm assuming you can probably figure out how to decipher it yourself--I just put in a tid bit of encryption to keep it from being abused by the casual vandal--but I'll be glad to send you the code used to encrypt/unencrypt it. Ironically, I was just about to ask you a similar question--I've now begun using the RSS feed to retrieve recent changes, and I implemented a filtration method based upon your badwords list (can't think of the exact link right now); I suppose I should probably show you the same decency in asking whether or not I may use it :-). AmiDaniel (talk)
- Great, thanks. Yes, the badwords list is available for whatever use you find for it. :) Lupin|talk|popups 03:17, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

- Holy bajeebus, how embarassing!! That's not just my page either--that's hardcoded into VP. Woops. Thanks for pointing it out though; I can't believe I let that get by me. AmiDaniel (talk) 08:06, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
VandalProof 121
VandalProof version 1.2.1 has been continuously rejecting my username, Do you know why? Cheers, Jean-Paul 15:26, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Anti-Vandal tools
Hi AmiDaniel. I have a question... I use Mozilla FireFox to browse Wikipedia, and I do a lot of vandalism monitoring and reverting. Is there an anti-vandalism tool that works with Mozilla? It appears your VandalProof only works with IE. Any suggestions? Kasreyn 16:04, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- There are several - go to RC patrol, and you will find a long list there. Unfortunately, there is nothing like VandalProof because this imports a Microsoft-written control, something which I don't believe is available for any other browsers. --Xyrael T 18:33, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- As above, VP does not require you to use IE, just to have it installed. I've actually found myself in the past quite frustrated by how many tools are dependent upon FF! I'd suggest having a peak at godmode and godmode-light, tools that give rollback functionality to non-admins (for FF-users only). Then you may want to have a look at Lupin's Anti-Vandal Tool, which provides sever methods of filtering and viewing recent changes. You can find a much more complete list at WP:CVU#Dealing with vandalism; these are just the tools that I would recommend. AmiDaniel (talk) 20:26, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
VandalProof
I have created a sockpuppet called User:GeorgeMoney VandalProof (proof) because my monobook.js crashes IE. It got approved, but is there some way to import GeorgeMoney's watchlist into GeorgeMoney VandalProof's watchlist? --GeorgeMoney T·C 18:38, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- Not that I know of. I could probably write you a script to do this, but it would probably take hours to run--try posting a message at WP:VPT; I'd have to think the devs probably have a much easier way to do this. AmiDaniel (talk) 20:28, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
New bug?
I have started getting repeated JavaScript bugs, normally I only get one (when the user list loads) but now I get them anytime I do anything using VandalProof. They all say the same thing 'Unterminated string constant on line 731 char 34. Code 0'. Is this a new bug? I have never had this many JavaScript errors before. Prodego talk 21:38, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oye. Try doing a hard refresh, and perhaps clear out your IE tifs and cookies. Have you made any changes to your monobook.js recently? I could go look for myslef but I'm just too lazy :-). AmiDaniel (talk) 21:40, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- Clearing everything fixed it. Do you have any idea what might have caused this? Thanks, Prodego talk 21:48, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure specifically, but somehow certain tifs get corrupted and IE tries to load them, which leads to errors. I actually think that most of these JS errors result from that, and so I'm try to figure out some way to prevent the Browser control from trying to load pages from cache but have no luck yet. I'm glad you got it working again. AmiDaniel (talk) 22:05, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: The Parma Witch Hunt
Alright, that makes sense, since I was only suggesting the dletion becuase it's alreayd on the Parma Ohio article, and a merge would accomplish the same thing. --Wizardman 22:58, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
VandalProof not working?
I installed VP 1.2 and entered my username and it wouldn't let me log in, stating that either I hadn't logged into Wikipedia, had logged in under the wrong name, or am not on the approved list. Obviously, none of these are the case. So what's happening? Please assist. --HubHikari 00:44, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, you are using 1.2.1 and not 1.2.0, right? Confirm that you are using the monobook skin and that you are logged in within the VP browser. Click on the "Try Logging into Wikipedia" link, and log in with "Remember Me" checked. If that doesn't work, check that you do not have any strange cookie settings in IE.
