Image shows an interlocking swastika design on the floor of the cathedral of en:Amiens, France. This image shows a black swastika, disconnected, against a ground of interlocking white swastikas. Elsewhere in the pavement, the figure is a white swastika against a ground of interlocking black swastikas. These contrasting designs can be seen in images of the entire floor [1] [2]. The interplay of figure and ground is reminiscent of some works by en:M.C. Escher.

The swastika design is one of several repeating patterns in the pavement. It does not appear that one design or another was given greater emphasis. The central position in the pavement is held by a en:labyrinth.
