[edit] I've adjusted the queue map above to reflect the more accurate representation

I heard much feedback about how long the page was getting so I got back to workable basics. I've corrected the above map. Is the next step to adjust the queue map on the portal/queue page? Is there an automated process? If not, I'll adjust manually. BusterD 23:55, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

While I'm asking questions, could you load an article or two into place, say, the third quarter FA (Abraham Lincoln) and maybe an image or two, so I can see what's happening? So what is done is individual article clippings are loaded onto the queue and then that automates the dynamic content. Groovy. Once the queue is rebuilt to fit its final configuration and I understand what that looks like, I'll start filling in through the first of the year. BusterD 00:49, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Oh, hey BusterD. Thanks for taking interest in doing dynamics on the ACW Portal. The scheme I'm thinking of uses the variables, {{CURRENTWEEK}} (0..53) and {{CURRENTMONTH}} (01..12). I'm thinking we can just set it up like a ring that lines up with anniversaries of events on the American Civil War timeline (Which may not exist yet, unfortunately). Once we build a whole year's worth in, it'll run the ring changing weekly/monthly year after year. That way, we wont have to archive anything except maybe ACW News.
We should probably first compile lists of possible selections so we can determin how often to change them. For example, If we only have three featured articles, we might set them up to change each month and repeat the sequence each quarter. The Grand Parade of the States on the other hand has 23 articles to date, that we can draw from. We could actually change those daily. See Portal talk:American Civil War/Grand Parade of the States. Please stay tuned... • CQ 13:28, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
This has been sitting while real life has intruded. I'll be on this presently. Revised today. Will trim queue to match. BusterD 21:15, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
