[edit] Setting up...
I have a worksheet at User:CQ/ACW-1 from which I compiled the following list: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia. Those 23 are the ones that have [state] in the Civil War articles. Louisiana would make an even 24. I suugest we make 24 synopsis articles titled:
- Portal:American Civil War/Alabama
- Portal:American Civil War/Arizona
- Portal:American Civil War/California
- Portal:American Civil War/Colorado
- Portal:American Civil War/Florida
- Portal:American Civil War/Georgia
- Portal:American Civil War/Illinois
- Portal:American Civil War/Iowa
- Portal:American Civil War/Kansas
- Portal:American Civil War/Kentucky
- Portal:American Civil War/Louisiana
- Portal:American Civil War/Maryland
- Portal:American Civil War/Massachusetts
- Portal:American Civil War/Mississippi
- Portal:American Civil War/Missouri
- Portal:American Civil War/New Mexico
- Portal:American Civil War/North Carolina
- Portal:American Civil War/Ohio
- Portal:American Civil War/Pennsylvania
- Portal:American Civil War/South Carolina
- Portal:American Civil War/Tennessee
- Portal:American Civil War/Texas
- Portal:American Civil War/Vermont
- Portal:American Civil War/Virginia
Did I leave anyone out? (Idaho and West Virginia present interesting cavaats in the ACW context). That makes 26. Now we can stick in those and two special articles:
- Portal:American Civil War/Washington DC
- Portal:American Civil War/Border states
Those will go at the top and bottom of the parade.

- Good idea! I created a few of those articles, and appreciate your interest in getting them some visibility. Scott Mingus 20:59, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
