[edit] Bad title
'American World War II people' is not very gramatically correct, and just sounds wrong. How does 'Americans associated with World War II' sound as a replacement?
[edit] Vets subcategory
How's this page supposed to work with it's subcategories?
There are lots of WWII Veterans listed here, mixed in with politicians and others. Some of the vets don't show up in the vets subcategory. Whole thing seems like a mismash of names. Any ideas? Beanbatch 19:07, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
This page is lacking quite a few vets. The most notable one in my mind is infantry scout Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., as well as novelist Joseph Heller, although I don't know his rank in the armed forces.
[edit] purpose/inclusion in this category
This category includes the World War II Veterans sub-category. If a person is listed in this veterans sub-category and did nothing else regarding World War II, then should that person also be listed directly in this category or be removed? The World War I people category is set up this way: the people category is only for non-military; the veterans only for military. Your ideas? Thanks Hmains 21:12, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- I think this page should be for civilians who somehow had a role in WWII - politicians, scientists (i.e. Oppenheimer, etc.); and military personnel not directly involved in-theater, i.e. George Marshall. I don't think anyone actually involved in fighting should be listed here, but rather in the veterans category. Someone like Eisenhower is iffy though - he was SHAPE commander, but never actually on ground fighting or leading troops at the tactical level. Personally, I would put him as "American World War II people." Nobunaga24 01:14, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
