Category:American actor-politicians

This is a category of people who at some point in their lives were actors and also at some point in their lives were politicians. For an actor to be included in this category, he/she should have held either a position in the government or stood for public office. Actors who simply publicly take a political stance or are only generally active in poltics should not be included on this page unless they have or are in the process of campaigning for a poltiical position in the United States government (or any state or local government of the United States). Politicians who are professionally known for being politicians and only play themselves (even if it is a scripted, fictionalized version of themselves) in film and television shows (such as John McCain and Al Sharpton) and thus are not professionally known as actors should not be included. Actor's who have been appointed to low level commitees (such as Ron Silver) should not be included but actors who have been appointed to government level positions in federal, state, or local governments may be included.
