American University of Afghanistan

The American University of Afghanistan (AUAf) in Kabul, Afghanistan, is a new private, not-for-profit university located in Karte Se, Kabul that started courses in March of 2006. The university is supported by the Government of Afghanistan, USAID and private donors.

AUAf offers instruction in English through native English-speaking instructors from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Canada.

The university currently offers 4-year degree programs in Business Administration and in Information Communication Technology. It also offers a pre-academic Foundation Studies Program designed to ensure that students have the level of English, computer and study skills to succeed in a competitive and challenging Higher Education environment. For students who wish to study for shorter periods, AUAf offers Business English and TOEFL preparation courses for professional Afghans. The university also offers courses directly to employers in Afghanistan such as UN agencies, governmental departments and private organizations.

AUAf runs on the US semester system with the academic year starting in August. The wide variety of courses offered allow students to enter the university at various times during the year.
