The American Journal of Sociology (AJS) is one of the most important scientific journals in the field of sociology and the first U.S. scholarly journal in its field. It is published bimonthly since 1895 by The University of Chicago Press.

AJS presents work on the theory, methods, practice, and history of sociology. AJS also publishes sociology-related papers by scholars from outside sociologyItalic text.
