American High School is a secondary school located at 18350 NW 67 Avenue in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida; its principal is Dr. Louis J. Algaze.

American was built and opened in 1976 and was named so because this was the year of America's bicentennial. Its mascot and colors were chosen to reflect this. The school uses a Hialeah address but mainly serves the city of Miami Gardens.

American's athletic rivals include Barbara Goleman High School, Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School and Miami Carol City High School
