American Cathedral in Paris
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The American Cathedral in Paris, properly known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, is the cathedral for the Convocation of American Churches in Europe of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America. It is located in central Paris, located not far from the River Seine.
The cathedral, recently classified as a historic monument, was consecrated on Thanksgiving Day in 1886, but its roots go back even further, to the days when American Episcopalians began meeting for worship in the 1830s.
The cathedral appears in the painting Après l'Office à l'Église de la Sainte-Trinité, Noël 1890 (After the Service at Holy Trinity Church, Christmas 1890) by Jean Béraud.
