[edit] Notability
Amelie Beese was an architect and a sculptor who became the first aviatress in Germany despite much male opposition and sabotage. She started her own flying school and aircraft company. A bad marriage to a Frenchman and World War I combined to discourage her.
Beese shot herself on 22 December, 1925.
