[edit] Acting Career

Alyssa has dreamed of stardom since she was a child. Her first ambition was to be a model, but after being part of the Hotbabes, she now aspires to be an actress. This is no surprise, as Alyssa, whose top talents she lists as dancing and singing, knows that showbiz is her natural element. Quiet and a bit shy, people say that her pagiging natural (being "natural") is the power behind her irresistible charm.1

Movie actors in the Philippines are almost always required by their respective studios to do guest appearances on variety shows to promote upcoming films and/or products, usually performing a current radio hit song, whether they can sing or not. In June 2006, Alano performed the song "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer in an episode of GMA-7's late night show Master Showman Presents. Alano sang the English song in a heartfelt, cheerful way, but with a heavy Tagalog accent and perceived mispronounciations of some of the lyrics, a habit many Filipinos find amusing.

The video features karaoke-style subtitles presented by the person who created the clip. The subtitles are done in a scrolling text to simulate a karaoke or videoke session, with the singer's score at the end. These lyrics are spelled how they allegedly sounded like when like Alano sang "Kiss Me," which serves as the punchline to this prank. Toward the end of the month, the clip had been viewed over 200,000 times.

Apparently, Alano had no idea that her YouTube video was making rounds in cyberspace until it was shown to her during an interview on the show Chika Minute ("Chat" Minute).

Interestingly, Alano has been a good sport in her reactions to the sudden popularity of her singing video, even publicly thanking the anonymous prankster who created the clip, saying it got her a lot of attention.2 She has since appeared in at least one other TV talk show to jokingly re-sing "Keys Me" along with the clip's audio track.

Alyssa's pranksters have also broadcast another karaoke-style video of her singing "Whenever, Wherever" by Shakira.
