Alykul Osmonov

Alykul Osmonov (Kyrgyz: Алыкул Осмонов) (March 21, 1915December 12, 1950) was a Kyrgyz poet. Osmonov was born in Kaptal-Aryk in Panfilov District, Kyrgyzstan, about 75km east of Bishkek. He was orphaned at a young age and was brought up in state care. His first book of poetry, Poems at Dawn, was published in 1935. He died of pulmonary pneumonia in 1950, at the age of 35.

Today, there is a statue of him outside the National Library in Bishkek, and a museum dedicated to him in the village where he was born.
