Alun Pugh

Alun Pugh (b. 1955) is the Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport in the Welsh Assembly Government. He is the Assembly Member for the marginal seat of Clwyd West. He will be challenged in the 2007 Assembly election by Darren Millar.

He is a Labour Party member. He was born into a coal mining family in the Rhondda. Prior to his election in 1999, he was a vice principal in a large further education college. He holds post graduate qualifications in computer science and education in addition to his Business Finance degree. He speaks Welsh and German as well as his native English.

He lives in his constituency near Ruthin.
