Front Mission: Alternative is a 1997 game for the Sony PlayStation by Square Co.
[edit] Story
Front Mission: Alternative takes place in Africa, 2034. The local governments are being terrorized by groups of guerilla warriors. You'll need to use your WAWs to wipe out these terrorist organizations. But well-planned strategies will be integral to your success.
[edit] Gameplay
In Front Mission Alternative, players have complete control over the weapons and shields of their individual WAWs. Money earned by successfully completing missions can be used to customize WAWs with a wide variety of weaponry, shields, and expansions.
Front Mission Alternative is played on a large highly detailed map. You set your platoons (3 WAWs to a platoon) on a course to attack enemy platoons. Timing and attack direction is vital to the success of missions. Although you are always outnumbered, the AI of your computer opponent is rather limited and you can usually out-maneuver the computer with careful planning.
