Alroy Haldane (Royston Draper)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the fictional universe of the Deryni novels of Katherine Kurtz, Alroy Haldane was a hereditary Prince of Gwynedd during the Festillic Interregnum.

Alroy Bearand Ifor Haldane was born on December 28, 843, the only son and heir of Prince Aidan Haldane and Avis de Burgeys. Alroy's father was the only Haldane survivor of the Festillic coup of 822, and had been raised in secret by a commoner under the name Daniel Draper. Alroy's true identity as a Haldane heir was concealed throughout his life, and he worked with his father in the wool trade under the name Royston Draper. Though Alroy never had the opportunity to reclaim his family's throne, he did marry and produce a legal heir before dying in the Great Plague of 878. Prince Alroy Haldane died on September 12, 878, at the age of 34.
