Alphonso Bell

Alphonso Bell (September 19, 1914 - April 25, 2004) was a United States Representative from California. He was born in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. He graduated from Occidental College in 1938. He served in the United States Army from 1942-1945. He then worked as a rancher, real estate investment, business executive, and business owner.

Bell was chairman of the Republican State Central Committee of California, 1956-1959. He was a member of the Republican National Committee, 1956-1959. He was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-seventh and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1961 - January 3, 1977). He was not a candidate for reelection, but was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the United States Senate in 1976. He died in 2004 in Santa Monica, California.
