What does this mean? "The castle was first known of in 1096 when Yves de Vescy was Baron of Alnwick." It would be good if this could be clarified - I assume that what is being got at is that its first recorded presence is then, or something - but it reads badly, becase it sounds as if 1096 was when people anywhere first heard of it, and I am sure this is not what was meant.
