Almaza (or Brasserie Almaza S.A.L.) is a Lebanese beer brewer, established in 1933. It has an annual beer production close to 200.000 hectoliters per year. It went from a 1000 bottles/hour at that time, to 24000 bottles/hour today. This is a productivity multiplied by 24 in 60 years, or a +5.5% average growth per year.
Founded in 1933 in Bauchrieh by Lebanese shareholders, mainly the Jabre family, the Almaza Brewery was initially called "Brasserie Franco-Libano-Syrienne". Almaza began with a capital of 30000 LP whereas today its capital is 35 billion LP.
In 1950 the name of the brewery changed and became "Brasserie et Malterie Almaza". In 1960, the second generation of shareholders takes over the management of the Brewery. It is only after the war of Lebanon in the 1990s that the Brewery took its final name: "Brasserie Almaza S.A.L."
[edit] Specificities of the brewery
Brewery combines tradition with modernism and advanced technology. Computerization appeared there more than 20 years ago, at the end of the 1970s and has since developed exponentially.
The Almaza Brewery is certified ISO 9002 for its quality system since December 1999. It invested in new fermentation tanks and in a new brew house. A research laboratory regularly analyzes and tests the quality of the product and its conditioning.
New technologies made the brewery require more and more competences and very qualified personnel. Internal and external training courses are carried out locally or abroad.
The Almaza Brewery already prepares new products resulting from alcoholic beer and non-alcoholic beer called Almaza zero for all those wishing to avoid alcohol while appreciating the good taste of beer. This drink is natural and does not contain preservatives or other chemicals.
According to the evaluation guides of beer in the world like "The Beer Lover's Rating Guides" of the Bob Klein American team, Almaza beer is one of the best pilsener beers in the world.
The Almaza Brewery develops its market with export. The beer is in almost all Lebanese restaurants abroad and starts to penetrate the great European distribution networks. The Brewery exports to Canada, the United States, England, France, Australia and in the Gulf countries. The malt beverage "Malta" and its fruity derivatives are currently available in the market.
