[edit] Merger

Please see Allhin_condenser - merge these pages? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Quantockgoblin (talkcontribs).

Yes. One of them I think is spelt incorrectly, but I don't know which one...A redirect would do after a merge I think. --HappyCamper 23:32, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Google: Allhin condenser - 71 hits; Allihn condenser 10,600 hits. I guess this is the right one. Quantockgoblin - I like your picture better. However, your spelling is wrong! Would you mind copying it to the right spelling, and giving {{badname}} to the old version on commons? Once done, I'll Ifd my copy of the picture. --Rifleman 82 23:46, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Rifleman 82, will do --Quantockgoblin 09:56, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Has this IfD been done? I can speedy it if you like. --HappyCamper 23:16, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't notice that the new copy had been upload. Ifd is done. Speedy away! --Rifleman 82 23:25, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Done. :-) --HappyCamper 00:40, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
I've put "badname" on the image that is incorrectly spelt, and re-uploaded the image as "Allihn_condenser.png" to commons, I hope that is correct!? (It seems I was editing at the same time as you!) --Quantockgoblin
Quantockgoblin - perhaps you can reupload your picture to commons in a larger size? (Pixel size, not necessarily file size) Your version is nicer because it's got colors, but I think the edges are a bit jagged. This should not be noticeable in a larger version. --Rifleman 82 23:33, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Rifleman 82, I've made it a bit bigger --Quantockgoblin 00:00, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Maybe we can get a vectorized version of that image? --HappyCamper 00:40, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] History

I wonder if this piece of glassware is named after Felix Richard Allihn? Japanese Wikipedia seems to have an article containing his name...I wonder if we can figure out whether ja:アリーン冷却器 is the same thing as this article? The links suggests this might be the case. --HappyCamper 00:48, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't speak Japanese but this document as well as a few others obtained from googling "Felix Richard Allihn" suggest this to be the case. --Rifleman 82 01:06, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
