Amanda Kirby was born on July 11, 1985. She was raised in Maryland by her parents, Thomas and Wendy Kirby. Amanda has one older sister, Kathryn Adele Kirby. Kathryn is four years older than amanda.

In 1992, Amanda's parents divorced, and both remarried the summer of 1994. Thomas married Mary Cochran and Wendy married Robert Kenney. In these two marriages, amanda gained four stepsiblings - a brother and a sister on each side. Mary's two children were Tiffany Cochran, 8 years older than Amanda, and James Cochran, 4 years older than Amanda. Robert's children were Michael Kenney, 6 years older than Amanda, and Ellen Kenney, 4 years older than Amanda.
