Alkermes

Alkermes may refer to:

  • Alkermes, a once famous confection of which the kermes berry was an ingredient; the other ingredients were pearls, musk, cinnamon, ambergris, leaf gold, juice of pippins, and rose-water. In pre-modern medicine, it was ranked among the best cardiacs, and was frequently used for the palpitation of the heart, or syncope, sometimes for smallpox and measles.[1]
